When I did my master's degree at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, I took a seminar on the Middle East. There were only 12 students and I was one of three women. In the first class, our Turkish professor asked us: "What is the definition of politics?" and proceeded to explain that politics is the exercise of power. And "What is power?" Power is the ability to compel someone to do something they don't necessarily want to do.

Over the years I have thought a great deal about these definitions, and today, faced with the dismantling of multilateral structures as an explicit policy of the Donald Trump administration, we see how raw power is being established as the new modus operandi, alongside reactionary movements that suppress human rights and diversity of thought.

Mujeres al frente del debate, abriendo caminos hacia un diálogo más inclusivo y equitativo. Aquí, la diversidad de pensamiento y la representación equitativa en los distintos sectores, no son meros ideales; son el corazón de nuestra comunidad.
