The Charleston Police Department closed the investigation into the death of John Barnett, determining it was a suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

John Barnett was a son, a friend, a loved one, and a professional of excellence in contemporary aviation. He was found dead in his vehicle, at the parking lot of a hotel in Charleston, South Carolina, on March 9, 2024.
