¿Por qué te quedas despiertx por la noche, escuchando el latido constante de tu corazón? ¿Por qué miras por una ventana empañada con bordes rizados de escarcha y ves pasar los autos a toda velocidad? ¿Qué te mantiene respirando, qué te mantiene atado alrededor del caos que nos envuelve? ¿Es la calidez de un abrazo sincero, llegando a lo más profundo de tu ser? ¿Es el susurro dorado de sabias palabras a través de tu alma turbulenta? No, para mí no. Para mí, es el brillo de las palabras en papel nítido, las palabras suaves y entrelazadas que se convierten en historias elaboradas.

Para mí es la sensación de que una mujer se sentó en un escritorio, a kilómetros de distancia de donde estoy ahora, entretejiendo palabras, sabiendo que en algún lugar del mundo, una niña de trece años leería las mismas palabras, un sentimiento cálido expandiéndose en su pecho, haciendo que el mundo entero se desvanezca a excepción de la historia que transmite. El hecho de que supiera que cambiaría una vida para bien, dejaría una huella, una marca en este mundo espectacular en el que vivimos. Sabía que marcaba una diferencia para mí, para todos los que leen sus palabras. Mientras escribía esto, ¿en qué estaba pensando?

Al contar su historia, ¿qué pensó que me haría sentir? ¿Sabía ella que iba a cambiar el mundo mientras escribía esto? ¿Sabía ella que un día se levantaría, una estrella brillante en medio de la confusión, como la creadora de sueños, la que hizo realidad este folclore? Espero que sepa que le digo gracias.

Gracias por mostrarme que mis sueños pueden hacerse realidad. Gracias por permanecer firme conmigo en tiempos terribles. Gracias por estar ahí, pluma contra papel, a lo largo de mi vida y la vida de muchos otros por venir. Nunca dudes de ti mismo, nunca te detengas. Eres una estrella, así que nunca pares de brillar.

Why do you lie awake at night, listening to the steady thrum of your heartbeat? Why do you stare out a window fogged with curling edges of frost and watch cars speed by? What keeps you breathing, what keeps you tethered around the chaos swirling by? Is it the warmth of a heartfelt hug, reaching deep within you? Is it the golden whisper of wise words across your turbulent soul? Not for me. For me it's the shimmer of words on crisp paper, the gentle, looping words spun into elaborate stories. For me it’s the feeling that a woman sat in a desk, miles away from where I am now, weaving words together, knowing that somewhere in the world, a thirteen year old girl would read the same words, a fuzzy, warm feeling expanding in her chest, making the entire world fade away except for the story. The fact that she knew that she would change a life for the better, make an imprint on a heart, leave a mark on this glittering world we live in. She knew she made a difference to me, to everyone that reads her words. As she wrote this, what was she thinking? As she retold her story, what did she think it would make me feel? Did she know she was going to change the world as she wrote this? Did she know that one day she’d rise - a shining star in the midst of confusion, as the maker of dreams, the one who made folklore a reality? I hope she knows that I say thank you. Thank you for showing me that my dreams can come alive. Thank you for staying firm with me through terrible times. Thank you for being there, pen against paper, through my life and the life of many others to come. Never doubt yourself, never stop. You are a star, so shine on.

Viajera por naturaleza y escritora de corazón, Nicole no encuentra nada más relajante que el sonido de la lluvia cayendo sobre un techo y el constante sonido del teclado de su computadora mientras escribe sus cuentos, poemas y novelas. A traveler by nature, a writer at heart, Nicole finds nothing more soothing than the pattering of rain on a rooftop and the steady click of her laptop keyboard as she writes her short stories, poems and novels. At the blissful age of thirteen, she has drafted four novels of varying lengths, and dozens of small stories unleashed into the world. She wants to make the world a better place with her writing, soothing people's hearts and igniting hope in their lives.
